    Crucial SSD Desktop Install Kit

Install a Crucial SSD in a desktop PC with ease

Installing an SSD in a desktop PC is easy, but it sometimes requires a few special supplies, which is why we created this kit. Included is a SATA-to-USB cable that you’ll use to transfer data from your old storage drive to your new SSD, a SATA-to-SATA cable that you’ll use to physically install the drive, plus a bracket you’ll use to install a Crucial SSD to your desktop’s storage bay. If you’re installing an SSD into a standard OEM desktop (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) you’ll also need a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch converter, which allows you to secure the SSD to these particular systems’ larger storage bays.

Great product but support and documentation poor in parts. EG Documentation not up to date. Documentation says that Acronis CD should be inserted and now no CDs are issued - called support to clarify. No mention in documentation of need to initialise the ssd which support said was necessary.
    the process I went through:
To simplify my upgrade from hd to ssd I connected the ssd (initialised) to a USB port using the cable supplied in the install kit. I wanted to use Acronis to clone the hd to the ssd. It allowed me to select the target disc but would not allow me to select the ssd to clone to. Phoned support to be told that the problem was the size of the ssd which did not match exactly the size of the hd. I pointed out that I thought it was the used capacity of the hd that mattered and this was far less than the ssd, but I was repeated told that the size had to be exactly the same. I was also told that perhaps I needed some help - did I have a friend or family member who could help me. I was also told that I could return the product for a full refund. I was not pleased with these comments. After the phone call I reread the documentation and on one of the documents I found a reference to Acronis and that it cannot be used to clone to a disc attached to a USB port and that the disc had to be internal. I therefore installed the ssd in a spare bay and restarted Acronis which worked with no problems. I was so pleased with the ssd that I ordered another from you to replace the other hd in my system and have installed that with no problems. In summary the documentation mislead me and support gave me completely the wrong information. So I would recommend the hardware but add a cautionary note about the documentation and support.

"Transfer your data with ease". Not in my case

"Transfer your data with ease". Not in my case.
I am something of a novice and had to contact Crucial by phone or email to solve the following.
    1. Error messages when installing software.
    2. Creating a bootable USB drive.
    3. Initialising the SSD
    4. Delete unallocated volume space on new SSD
All of this was new to me (as well as taking my laptop apart to replace the HD). On the positive side the Crucial support team were brilliant and saw me through all the problems.

Everything Perfect. Not so easy to use as I was expecting but still easy enough to manage cloning my old HDD to a new SSD.
