    204-pin SODIMM for Mac

In short, 204-pin small outline dual inline memory modules (SODIMMs) are the form factor used to provide DDR3 memory modules for notebook computers and other small form factor computing platforms.

To use DDR3 memory, your system must have both a 204-pin SODIMM slot and a chipset that supports DDR3 memory. A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets.

SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 204-pin SODIMM PCBs are always ~2.6 inches long and are usually around 1.18 inches high (though the heights can vary slightly). They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The number of memory components on a 204-pin SODIMM's printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 102 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 204 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket.

The exchange/refund programme isn't that efficient since it takes 2 to 3 weeks.

I upgraded my iMac with an extra 16gb of memory to bring it up to a total of 24gb. The 2 programs I use all the time (Lightroom CC & Photoshop CC) both run much faster. The 2 memory modules are very easy to install it only takes about 5 minutes to complete the job. Well worth the price I paid compared to the apple equivalent.

Crucial memory superb in top end 27" iMac!

          By Millfield Media guy

          from London

Fitted in seconds to add a further 16GB to the 16GB already in my iMac, giving a max. 32GB, and used for professional video editing, using Final Cut pro X and other software. Works faultlessly and highly recommended. Why risk an unknown brand?

Bought 16gb to upgrade my Mac, cut out the middle men and went straight to crucial, cheapest price fast delivery and no problems, probably going to add another 16gb in near future as it was so easy.

This memory was fitted and back up and running in under 5 minutes. No error messages or compatibility issues. Apple price for equivalent memory was around £300 so at under £80 purchasing from Crucial is a no-brainer.
